Handover ceremony of environmental radiation monitoring system NAH to INST
In the framework of bilateral cooperation between Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INST) of Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) and Fuji Electric Co., Ltd., Japan (FUJI), on September 23, 2016 the handover ceremony of the online environmental radiation monitoring system NAH provided by FUJI to INST took place at the Operation Centre for Environmental Radiation Monitoring and Early Warning Network, INST. Participants in the ceremony were Mr. Kuroki Tomohiro, Manager of Group III, Sales Department II, Energy Division, Sales Group; Mr. Rikiya Saga, Assistant Manager; Mr. Hiroyoki Mizuno, Assistant Manager from FUJI and Mr. Trinh Van Giap, Director of INST; Mr. Bui Dac Dung, Head of Planning and International Cooperation Department; Mr. Nguyen Quang Long, Director of Environmental Radioactivity Monitoring & Impact Assessment Centre and relevant staff from INST.

The online monitoring and warning equipment set costs 45,000 USD and includes: 01 real-time dosimetry system model NAH, 02 portable area monitors for model NAH and 01 server with available operation software. This state-of-the-art equipment system meets the INST’s need in scientific research in the field of radiation protection and environmental monitoring and enables researchers to implement continuous monitoring and online data transmission of gamma exposure rate and specific activity of each particular radioisotope in the environment.
After the implementation of testing under Vietnamese environmental condition at the Operation Centre for Environmental Radiation Monitoring and Early Warning Network, the real-time dosimetry system model NAH was installed at Mong Cai Weather Station in Quang Ninh on September 28, 2016. Later, one portable area monitor for model NAH is going to be installed at the Environmental Radiation Monitoring and Warning Station in Lao Cai.
Addressing his remark at the ceremony, Director Trinh Van Giap stressed the importance as well as the necessity of establishing Vietnam national network on environmental radiation monitoring and early warning. He also expressed sincere thanks to FUJI partner for the great support and believed that the cooperation between the two sides would be further strengthened in the future.
