Mini-Workshop on Nuclear Engineering and Reactor Physics in Duy Tan University

A Mini-Workshop on Nuclear Engineering and Reactor Physics took place in Duy Tan University, Danang from 8 to 9 March 2017.

       The workshop was attended by participants from the following institutions: Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INST) of Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM); Nuclear Research Institute, Dalat (NRI) of VINATOM; Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS); the host organization Duy Tan University and several other institutions with relevant fields.

       The workshop was designed to provide participants with the updates on existing research trends in Vietnam. It was also an opportunity to discuss the foundation and development of a young researchers’ network in the field of nuclear engineering in general and reactor physics in particular.

       Participating in the workshop, the researchers from the INST Nuclear Energy Center made presentations about their ongoing researches regarding dynamics of nuclear power reactors, fuel loading pattern optimization, impact assessment of neutron and gamma fluences on reactor pressure vessel, impact assessment of minor actinides transmutation on reactor physics and safety parameters, and assessment of nuclear power’s role in combating climate change.

       After completing this 2-day workshop, the Nuclear Energy Center of INST intended to develop cooperation with the experts from NRI and other national nuclear-related organizations in simulation and analysis of reactor physics and dynamics.
